On 6th November 2021, there will be a demonstration in Millienium Square in Leeds, as part of the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice. It is being organised by the COP26 Coalition, starting from 11:30 when protestors will assemble. Following assembly, there will be a march from 1pm to a rally at 3pm which will have speakers, stalls and music.
The COP26 Coalition is a UK-based coalition organising around issues of climate justice, during the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). It is a display of solidarity between different groups all affected by climate change; trade unions, grassroots community campaigns, faith groups, NGOs, youth groups, and migrant and racial justice networks are but a few of the groups commited to raising awareness and demanding justice around the issue.
Cliamte change is an existential threat that threatens all of us. Workers have a unique stake: we are affected by climate change, but workplaces are also a major contributor to it, and we as workers can be at the heart of a greener, fairer society. PCS has a history of campaigning on environmental and climate issues, generally and in workplaces, though our network of green reps. Visit the PCS website for more information on our union and climate change.
